We Offer Affirming Therapy Services For The LGBTQ+ Community
At Rooted Acorn Counseling, we provide professional psychotherapy services to meet you and your family's needs. Read more about each type of service to learn what's right for you!
We provide individual therapy for folks dealing with a wide range of challenges from depression, anxiety, trauma, and identity development. Each session is 50-minutes in length and can be either in-person or online. Both Sharon and Lindsay, our therapist, have different specialties and passions in their work, and we encourage you to read more about them in their bio pages. Ultimately, individual therapy is a journey, as varied and as beautiful as we each are individually.
Therapy for Teens
Being a teen is beyond difficult. Navigating relationships, getting good grades, and staying focused when the pressure is on, is so hard! Rooted Acorn Counseling therapist, Sharon, previously worked as a school-based therapist, and gets what teens today are going through. Together in therapy we’ll help you find your way through the maze of adolescence. You’ll explore those things that are important to you, which are often those things that usually get lost in the noise of school, sports, music, you name it! For parents of teens, Sharon works collaboratively with you to support your teen.
Couples therapy and marriage counseling and partners counseling are the same thing. Our therapist, Lindsay Cade, LPC, works with queer couples and allies to learn better ways to communicate, listen, and navigate stressful conversations like finances, sex and intimacy, and roles in the relationship. Utilizing Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) methods, Lindsay specializes in helping couples rebuild connection and find healing.
Even though we have a wonderfully diverse and beautiful LGBTQ+ community, life can be so isolating at times. Sometimes it is hard to remember we're not alone and find safe spaces to connect with others. That is why we offer 6 to 8-week therapy support groups. Each week, we’ll explore relevant topics for the LGBTQ+ community that vary from group to group. Each Spring and Fall, we open up registration for the upcoming group and have space for 5-8 participants. We intentionally keep the groups small to build meaningful connections between group members and provide enough time for each participant to share in the discussions.
