These last years have been hard. LGBTQ+ folks, especially trans folks have been hit even harder by bills and policies and a changing political climate throughout the last few years. As an LGBTQ+ therapist, I understand these unique challenges and am passionate about supporting folks in the LGBTQ+, non-binary, and trans community.
I hold a master’s degree in Counseling, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado. I have over 8 years experience in counseling. In my work at Rooted Acorn Counseling, I mainly work with LGBTQIA+ concerns, cultural and gender identity development, as well as grief and loss. I have extensive experience working with individuals healing from traumatic events and/or traumatic/unsafe seasons in their lives. Trauma work requires flexibility and a wide range of techniques to meet folks where they are. I rely heavily on a combination of EMDR, talk therapy, somatic techniques, and Internal Family Systems to tailor treatment to the needs of each individual. Currently, I have limited spots for couples therapy. I utilize emotionally focused therapy (EFT) techniques to help couples and partners find connection and healing. Values I bring to the therapy room are curiosity, humility, wonder, and creativity. An important intention of mine in my work is to create space that is affirming and welcoming, a space where folks are seen and valued as they are. When I am not in the therapy room, you will find me riding my bike or hiking with my partner and our pup, enjoying and being grateful for the beauty of these traditional lands of the Cheyenne, Arapaho, Ute and Očhéthi akówiŋ, now known as Colorado. |
